MFSA Continues Poverty Project on 10/8/09

Chapter Meeting Thursday, October 8

St. John’s UMC – Fellowship Hall (Downstairs)
6:30 pm – Snacks
7:00 pm – Program

Please join the Southwest Texas Conference MFSA this Thursday as we continue
our journey to educate ourselves about the root causes of poverty.  Our
2009-2010 focus – Embracing the Poor – will help us to better understand the
issues of poverty and to determine what role we can play to bring about
social change. This could be as simple as examining your buying practices
and as complex as taking on a local or global initiative for social/economic

At our first meeting we raised our awareness about the places where people
find themselves due to poverty by reflecting on images of people around the
world who are living in poverty.  This month we will examine what Jesus and
others have said to enlighten our minds, touch our hearts, and guide us to
actions of social justice for the least of those among us.  Russ Harper will
lead us in our reflection on scripture at the foundation of our call to care
for others.
