This Week’s Special Offering – One Village Project Global Youth Peace Summit

Trinity member Mark Weiler is volunteering this year at  the One Village Project Global Youth Peace Summit in Wimberley.  Our special offering this week will contribute to the many scholarships that are given to youth from around the world to help them take part in this amazing project.  Learn more about One Village and the Global Youth Peace Summit below or by visiting http://amalafoundation.org/gyps.html.

From Mark:

The One Village Project is a global movement uniting the youth of the world in service and community. Representing local, refugee, immigrant and international youth from over 25 countries, One Village challenges youth to connect with each other and the world around them on a deeper level as they develop values of peace, compassion, and leadership. By engaging in local service projects, the One Village Project revitalizes the world it serves while inspiring and uplifting a new generation of young leaders.

The One Village Project begins each year in August with the Global Youth Peace Summit.  The 4th Annual GYPS will be  an 8-day conference uniting 70 international, refugee, immigrant and local youth ages 12-18 as peace leaders of a global community. The goal of the Summit is to challenge and inspire youth to extend beyond their cultural differences to create One Village united by values of peace, healing, respect, and service to others. Through activities, discussions, art, music-making, and special events, the youth will learn to communicate, to think and act with compassion, and serve others with love. The Amala Foundation partners with other peace-centered social change organizations to offer a truly inspirational event, including urban roots, the Indigenous People Institute, local artists, musicians, educators, and peace leaders.

I will be supporting the youth with 4 days of service at the camp. I am so excited about this, everyone I know that has done this in the past says it is a life changing event… I can’t wait!
