The Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA) Seeks Executive Director

The Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA) is a 103-year-old independent organization of United Methodists with a broad social justice agenda, based in Washington, DC.  MFSA mobilizes, leads and sustains a progressive United Methodist movement that energizes people to be agents of God’s justice, peace and reconciliation.   Acting out of a deep spiritual yearning for justice and peace, MFSA follows the radical teaching and example of Jesus.  We are seeking a new Executive Director to guide the continued work of this grassroots movement.

The Executive Director of MFSA is responsible for the overall direction and management of the organization and implementation of MFSA’s strategic plan while upholding our values and goals.  The Executive Director will develop and nurture relationships with other organizations that share MFSA’s vision and principles, and oversee all planning for and implementation of MFSA’s presence and witness at the United Methodist General Conference.   Acting as the overall spokesperson for MFSA, the Executive Director will be able to clearly articulate MFSA’s theological grounding and passion for social justice.  For a more detailed job description, please click here.

MFSA offers a salary and housing package with a full range of benefits including health insurance.  Compensation package will be discussed upon inquiry.

Candidates must:

  • Be a member of the United Methodist Church;
  • Have a solid theological understanding and alignment with MFSA’s mission and values;
  • Have demonstrated success in fundraising;
  • Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and writing;
  • Have experience with volunteer and organizational development and management; and
  • Share in our commitment to create an environment embracing diversity and full inclusion.
