Our own Karon Rilling has written a science fiction novel and is announcing a book signing at BookPeople on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 7:00pm. She would love to have the support of friendly faces join her for the reading.

The novel, Tierra del Fuego, Colony Ship; Parting Shots, written under the name Caron Cro, is set in 2088 as applicants wait to hear if they will receive commissions on Earth’s first ship to a habitable planet. The Earth is a mess: the US is dependent on food and water producing nations; hydralic fracturing and climate warming have destroyed most US agriculture; the Chinese have us so in their debt that they control the Congress.

Characters include Lieutenant Trevathan Ivins, a systems engineer from a family of spaceship officers; the chef in a friends-with-benefits relationship with Trevathan; the nurse who saves Trevathan’s life wiith a flying tackle; an OB fertility specialist and her coroner lover; and a primatologist.

Why do they need a fertility specialist and a primatologist on this mission? Why do the Jesuits have a Special Ops. division fighting terrorists? Check the website for more: www.tierradelfuegocolonyship.com.
