Volunteer Request: Trinity to Provide Meals to Clergy Families at “Phoenix” Church

In an effort to better meet the needs of the communities most affected by wildfires (Bee Creek, Cedar Creek, Smithville, and Bastrop), the Austin District created the “Agape Partners.” The Agape Partners is a network of encouragement and support for the United Methodist churches in those four communities, now known as “Phoenix” churches.Trinity is a part of this network, and our partner church is FUMC Bastrop. As an Agape Partner, Trinity is committed to providing nurture for our partner church’s clergy and assisting them with specific, tangible needs.

In September and October, the Austin District Office provided one meal per week to each of the clergy families in the Phoenix churches.  It is now our turn to help our partner church, so we will be providing a meal each to Andy and Robyn Smith and to Cynthia and John Engstrom and their two sons during the week of December 11-17.

If you are able to have prepare and deliver one or both meals during that week, please contact Amy at mail@tumc.org.  This commitment involves:

  • Coordinating with Andy and Cynthia directly by contacting their church office at 512-303-5072. Michelle is the church secretary, and she is one of the persons who lost their home to the fire (you might want to consider including a baked treat, jar of candy for her desk, or small gift for her too.)  You can also reach them via email: Rev. Andy Smith – asmith@fumcbastrop.org, Rev. Cynthia Engstrom – cynthia.grilk.engstrom@gmail.com.
  • Preparing and delivering one complete meal to one or both of these families.
